We are a friendly, family owned musical instrument repair shop,
uniquely and exclusively specializing in
“Personalized” Woodwind, Brass,
and Orchestral String Repairs. Located in Lancaster, California - which is
approximately 70 miles North of Los Angeles - we have become famous among
Southern California professionals and students alike.
Getting the company started…
The concept of such a uniquely focused Band & Orchestra shop was a joint effort by Jim Scimonetti, and his son Jimmy.
When Jimmy Jr. was released from active duty in the Navy in 1999, his father had been repairing and customizing woodwinds as a side job for a few close friends. One day he suggested that they do woodwind repairs “for real” as a full time, father-son business. Later, Jimmy Jr. expanded the service to do brass instruments as well. He then went on to train and mentor the skilled technicians that now make our operation possible.
Expanding the possibilities…
Back in 1977 Jim Sr. struck up a long friendship with bassist Mark Tope when they played in an orchestra in the San Fernando Valley. After the store opened, Mark amazed Jim by demonstrating his craftsmanship and knowledge of orchestral string instruments, and in 2004 Jim convinced Mark to come on board with him as an orchestral string luthier. Mark and his skillset made it possible for us to have the very first and only full service orchestral string store in the Antelope Valley.
What is the experience like when you visit Scimonetti’s?
Well, sadly, most music stores today have abandoned or neglected Wind and Orchestral String players. Those are the musicians we want to serve. It is our goal to always carry what these players want and to provide the best service possible. Our customers always leave with a smile on their face.
